Hi, everyone.
First, thanks for reading my blog. I’m not sure what brought you here–you’re a friend or family member and want to
catch up, you’re a stranger and a Google search led you here, who knows. As a writer, I am happy to write posts that are perhaps useful and a little entertaining, and I hope you’ll be back. If there’s something you’d like to see me writing about more, add a comment. I definitely take requests.
I’m a freelance writer, ESL teacher and yoga teacher training student living in Austin, Texas. I share my home with two great guys, my boyfriend Vic and my 1-year old Border Collie/Heeler mix, Parker.
At the time of this post, I have lived in Austin for 2 years and 5 months. Before that, I lived in San Antonio from my Sesame Street days to my late twenties. Both cities have a lot to offer for artsy, life-loving people, so if you have an opportunity to live in either city, do it! My mom and Grande (that’s my maternal grandma) live in San Antonio (also called SA or the 2-1-0), and so do several friends. I still visit and always have great time in my hometown.
The reason this blog exists is I spent several months managing three blogs, each addressing my three big loves: writing, food, and yoga. It turns out I am not a three blog kind of girl. Instead, I am monoblogamous. So, here is one blog where I’ll write about those three loves, plus a few more. I hope you enjoy.
Take care,
Jen
JEN, I really like the new blog layout and style! Thanks for helping me with my little project too!

AP Style all the way!
Serial commas (and incorrectly written time) are the worst.

@Jocelyn:
Haha, but they are not incorrect according to MLA. Unfortunately, MLA and AP disagree here and in many other areas. As a person with an MA in English, I’ve spent a lot of time with MLA, but as a freelancer and someone who’s done a fair share of journalism, I have to abide by AP as well. My decision: AP when writing for my blog and clients, MLA when teaching English, though I will definitely explain to students that the newspaper is not incorrect, but just a different style.

I can’t get into this discussion about MLA vs. AP but I love the picture and the about. Good Luck! Love you lots!
